This morning I was driving in my car on a route I have only done a couple of times and so I decided it was probably a good idea to enlist the help of Siri and my GPS to get me there.
So I plugged in the destination, turned up the music and started to drive.
About two minutes into the one hour drive, I decided that actually I really would like a coffee to accompany me on the journey and, as I am a little fussy with my coffee, decided to take a detour from the route I was on to get coffee from a coffee shop that I knew made good coffee.
So I turned off the road I was travelling on and made my way towards the coffee shop.
Siri was still there guiding me towards my destination, but I was now travelling in another direction.
Siri just kept calm.
Siri was cool.
I kept missing the turn off to turn around back onto the route that Siri had mapped out for me.
Siri did not get stressed.
Siri did not panic.
Siri did not lose her shit.
Siri just simply kept calmly telling me what to do next – literally the second I missed the instruction she had just given me, she offered up the next action for me to take to correct and get back onto the path she was guiding me on.
Siri was calm.
There is a big lesson in this.
Be like Siri on the path of life.
Miss a turn off?
No big deal. Just move on.
All you need to do is calmly turn your attention to the next turn off.
You will get back on track.
And sometimes the good coffee can only be found on the detour.
Be like Siri.
And enjoy your coffee.
