It’s International Day of Happiness today, which means that what is already a great day – simply by the virtue of you being alive within it – is to be appreciated as an even more greater gift than it is on every other day!

Today can be a day for us to get together as a community, to connect and to celebrate all the things that bring us joy, that make us feel good and to appreciate the great gift that is our life and to make time to focus on the stuff that really matters.

Today The Happiness Hunter celebrated with a walk again through the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. It is such a beautiful location and if you are in Melbourne and haven’t visited recently, take some time to head there soon. And if you are not in Melbourne and haven’t explored your local gardens lately – then find out where they are and go for a visit. All cities have these amazing oasis in them and they are there for our enjoyment, and the natural beauty and the green of nature soothes our soul.

One of the things I was asked to do recently was to write down all the things that makes me happy. This is also part of The Happiness Hunter bootcamp, where we write down our Bliss List – which is a list of all the things that we love to do, that are fun, creative, that makes our heart sing, that brings us joy, that brings joy to others, that fills us up, fulfills our life and brings it meaning and a sense of freedom or purpose.

It’s such a great activity to do. It lifts you up as you are writing it, it brings your focus to the positive and to the present moment. It makes you smile, it makes you feel grateful, it makes you remember fun times and people and things you love. It also can serve as a booster when you aren’t feeling so great, as a gentle reminder or pick me up of the things that you can do – right now – to help you shift your gaze and change your attitude and energy.

So today, on this most wonderful of days, celebrating this right to happiness that is ours, simply by nature of our birth, a truth that the UN has said is important enough to give it’s own day, that is celebrated internationally – get clear on what makes you happy, on what brings you joy, and brings joy to others… stick it up on the wall somewhere or on your fridge and then DO MORE OF THAT STUFF.

Love always,

Fiona xxx

Edit – after the great success of our walk through the Botanical Gardens, The Happiness Hunter will now be hosting a monthly walk there, first Tuesday of every month.  You can find out more here and we would love to see you there!
