Episode 82

Meditation for Depression with Kath Ferguson

This is the first time that Kath Ferguson has publicly shared her story about her journey into depression, hospitalisation and the long and winding road to recovery.

Kath's mission is to share what she experienced and learned along the lonely road of mental illness. To eradicate the shame and to shine a light on the path, inspiring others who may be currently suffering, or know someone who is.

In this episode of the podcast, Kath is sharing how in addition to other treatments and lifestyle changes, how the introduction of mindfulness practices and meditation helped her recover, and now keep her well.

Kath recently left the corporate life to fulfil a dream of starting her own business and brain-child, Restore – Australia’s first meditation and napping sanctuary, back in October 2019. Knowing the debilitating condition of anxiety and depression first-hand, and mindful of the modern challenges we all face, she is passionate about how meditation can benefit and is on a mission to help people fit it into their busy lives. Disrupted by not only the pandemic but also an international move to Toronto for her husband’s work, she is now setting about inspiring others to meditate by sharing her story.

My Mission

Fiona Redding

Fiona Redding

My mission in life is to share everything I have learned – and am continuing to learn – about turning my own life around and to really help you understand that happiness is to be found in the overcoming of obstacles and challenges in your life, and not in the absence of them.  To achieve your potential in life, you need to become your potential.  And for that to be, you need to understand yourself, and learn how to harness your strengths and overcome your weaknesses.   You have the power within you to create whatever reality you choose, and I am here to help you know that if you don’t like what you are experiencing, then you can absolutely change that.   But you do have to choose, believe, and be open to all possibilities, and to keep showing up every day, even when it feels really hard. Because if you do what is easy, your life will be hard.  But if you do what is hard, your life will be easy.
